Music Recommendation: Mister G

Confession time: I don’t really like kids’ music. It’s often shrill, repetitive, and headache-inducing.

I have a feeling most parents share this view, which is why I’d like to give you a recommendation for some kids’ music that is actually really good.

Mister G is a Latin Grammy-winning artist who writes and sings kids’ songs in Spanish and English. It’s great music for introducing a foreign language to your child (and yourself), and it’s catchy as hell. I find myself singing Mister G’s tunes on the daily.

Mister G has many albums, but the one I started out with was ABC Fiesta. It’s a good introduction to his music. If you like that album, I think you’ll enjoy the rest of his stuff.

The best part is, Mister G is not a native Spanish-speaker. The G stands for Gundersheimer, which tells you all you need to know. As a fellow Spanish-speaking guero, I love that Mister G learned Spanish and decided to go from indie rocker to bilingual kids’ rock star.

All of Mr. G’s albums are available on Amazon. Let the fiesta commence!
